General Manager

3D Recruitment has partnered with a Tier 2 commercial builder seeking an experienced General Manager to lead the overall performance and delivery of the business. This is a senior leadership opportunity suited to an experienced commercial construction professional with the capability to oversee multiple projects, lead project teams, manage key client and stakeholder relationships, and work closely with senior leadership to support strong project delivery and operational performance.

With experienced leadership, financial stability and a collaborative approach, the business has developed strong relationships with clients, consultants, subcontractors and project partners. Their portfolio spans commercial, education, health, community, institutional and industrial sectors, with projects ranging from complex refurbishments through to major developments valued at $100M+.

THE ROLE

• Lead the overall delivery and performance of multiple commercial construction projects.
• Provide strategic direction across project teams, ensuring projects are delivered on time and to budget.
• Lead, mentor and develop Project Managers, Site Managers and broader delivery teams.
• Oversee financial performance, forecasting, programme, procurement and project risk.
• Maintain senior-level relationships with clients, consultants, subcontractors and key stakeholders.
• Drive operational efficiency, systems, processes and continuous improvement across the business.
• Oversee major project opportunities, tenders and contract negotiations.
• Ensure strong standards across safety, quality, commercial performance and project delivery.
• Take ownership of overall construction performance and help drive the continued growth of the business.

YOU

• Proven experience in a senior leadership role within commercial construction.
• Strong background overseeing multiple projects and high-performing project teams.
• Experience managing and mentoring Project Managers and broader construction teams.
• Strong commercial acumen with a proven understanding of budgets, margins, forecasting and risk.
• Extensive knowledge of construction processes, contracts, procurement and project delivery.
• Confident managing senior clients, consultants, subcontractors and internal stakeholders.
• Strategic and commercially minded, with the ability to identify opportunities and drive business performance.
• Ability to balance operational delivery with broader business objectives.
